On the 13/4/14 Brentwood under 8s entered the Essex festival for what would be for many of the team their last tournament in tag Rugby.
Drawn in pool A we had high hopes but knew that we needed to be at our very best to win a very difficult group.

The team of Thomas P, Ashton, Sonny, Freddie, Aaron, Jack P, Alex and Daniel we felt we had a good mix of pace and strength.
Game one was against Barking which saw Brentwood go on the attack with good pace and team work we ran out 5-2 winners with Ashton and Aaron scoring the tries supported with the pace from Dan, Alex , Sonny and Solid work from Tom, Jack and Fred.
Then came Maldon and again Ashton, Arron, Sonny and Alex all got in on the scoring while Dan, Fred, Jack and Tom held a good strong line. Some lovely passing seeing Brentwood win 8-2
The game against Upminster we knew could end up deciding the winners of group A so a tough fight began with Sonny ripping in to the attack and tagging with such pace . Dan, Alex, Ash and Aaron again getting on the score sheet and some slick movement from Tom and Jack, we won 6-4.
Chelmsford was a 5-5 draw with Brentwood leading most of the game.

Brentwood won group A and so played Southend in the semi finals.
We knew this would be a very tough game and we could never let Southend rest. The game was even in the first half but we had Alex to come on with a real injection of pace we pushed on with our pace also the defending was top class at one point a full ruck broke out with Ash Tom, Sonny and the rest of the crew not letting a bus past we won 6-2.
Then the final v Braintree.
By the final our team was feeling the pace of so many tough games we needed one more push. At half time we were behind the pace but after a heated team talk the lads really stepped up their game. Daniel and Ash scored tries to end the game 8-8 with Brentwood on the attack. The final whistle went and Brentwood u8s joint won the Essex cup.
