A message from the man himself...

Paris Marathon

First & foremost my main intention was to complete the course, and time was immaterial.

In fact I nearly did not make it, as I left the runners enclosure to go and watch a relative who had an earlier start, and was nearly not let back in on my return, and therefore started last.

To take my mind off running, I did some sightseeing seeing and caught up with my anatomy studies.

On approximately 19 miles or whatever it was in kilometres, stopped to get a bottle of water, and my legs nearly did not let me start again.

From then on it was head down and change my running style to get to the finish line, which I had not anticipated how grateful I would be to reach, especially as there was several thousand that did not complete.

The Jump

After being economical with the truth about my age so that I could carry out a solo jump, they reluctantly let me take part in what was to be a 6-hour vigorous training session.

However, I was failed before the 1st hour was up. This was apparently something to do with not being able to pull the cord for the parachute in a fluid movement!

Having not realised that I would be required to reach underneath the parachute behind me with my arm in an arc motion, this proved to be an obstacle.

Having *b******d my arm, or rather aggravated a rugby injury, when I fell whilst training for the marathon, to be able to reach the cord was a near impossible task without twisting my body, which was deemed to be a danger to myself & the trainer who would be jumping with me. Hence the failure.

I have now been kindly offered a tandem jump by Peter Palmer, whose son was part of a very successful youth team in the John Tierney era. So I will still be completing my 4th challenge, but not necessarily how I had intended!

Therefore, if anyone is interested in a discounted Sky Dive, please let me know
