Dear Members and Supporters,
Tonight (20th April) I have been discussing an “incident”, with the Essex disciplinary committee that took place after our recent game against Amersham and Chiltern, when a “supporter” not a member of our club, driving away from the overflow car park, verbally abused the referee, as he made his way back to the changing rooms.
Firstly following my recent note put on the website, the supporter made himself known to me and we have had a full frank discussion about the behaviour expected by the spectators at a game of rugby union, and I would like to publically thank him for having the decency to come forward.
Secondly the referees are guests of our club from the moment they drive into King Georges, until the time they leave, any further abuse of referees whether it’s in the clubhouse, on our pitches, or in the park in general including car parks, will not be tolerated, and will be fully investigated by the clubs disciplinary committee.
