Can you help YOUR Club?

12th January 2015

Dear BRFC Member,

Subject: New Clubhouse Working Meeting: 27th January 2015

First and foremost, I want to thank the 36 members and friends of BRFC who attended the open meeting on the new clubhouse project on the 6th January. At the meeting, we asked for volunteers willing to get directly involved in the next phase of the project. The response so far is very encouraging.

In particular, Rob Stevens, U14s parent and MD of Holborn Consulting, has already taken the lead in the quantity surveying/cost planning and programme services aspects of the project. This will include the production of a 4D model essential for our internal and external communications packages, and the subsequent marketing and fund raising presentations. Thanks Rob!

The terms of the planning permission from Brentwood Council require us to commence construction work at KG5 by November 2017 latest. We need to push forward urgently on a number of fronts now, including completion of the detailed specification and costing work, preparation of marketing materials and information packs, and organisation and execution of our club’s biggest ever fund raising campaign.

We will certainly need all the expertise and energy we can muster from within BRFC to be resourced and ready to start construction in 34 months time!

The next project meeting is at the clubhouse at 8.00pm on 27th January. It is a “working” meeting and if you have expertise in any of the above aspects and/or just want to do something to contribute directly to this key initiative, please contact me or any other member of the Executive Committee and come along and get involved on the 27th.

This is a seminal point in our club’s proud history. BRFC has been coaching and playing rugby at King George V Playing Fields since the 1950s. These new facilities will enable all of us who love this club to look forward with confidence to BRFC teams playing here till the 2050s.

I am confident we can pull this off together. Hope to see you on the 27th January.

Best regards

Richard King / Chairman
