This year marks the 50th Golden Boot Tournament which commemorates Andy Joselyn, a former Youth Player and Coach, 1st XV Player and Captain who died tragically at the age of 38 years old.
Over the years the Golden Boot has had many guises starting off as kicking contest before being reincarnated as a Schools Under 16 Seven aside tournament. Due to the lack of rugby being played in State schools during the 1980’s it was decided to revamp the format to become what we have to today a 15 a side Club Under 16’s competition.
Over the years the standard of the competing teams from all over Essex and beyond has risen tremendously which is a tribute to all the Players, Coaches and Parents for their commitment and hard work put in both on and off the field, something that Andy Joselyn epitomised and would be very proud to see.
We look forward to another fine example of the strength and talent of Under 16 Rugby within Essex and beyond remembering the core values of our wonderful game – Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship.
The club's U16 age group is working very hard to organise what they hope will be another very successful and enjoyable day of rugby for all.
Please come and support your club on the day!
