U18's National Cup Result
Brentwood through to Round 2 National Cup
After being rescheduled, Brentwood travelled to Westcliff to play Round 1 of the Under 18's National Cup.
With the exception of 1 player from what would be this Season's Under 18's. Sam Walls, who has been training alongside us, the rest of the team was the current U17's age group.
Brentwood started the match as they intended to go on, with commitment, resolve, and an intention to win. Our opening score was within the first 5 minutes, courtesy of Nathan Littler. Two further tries followed in fairly quick succession, one from Daniel Game after 14 mins, following a good run and offload from Dan Pembroke, then one from Will Lewis after a great charge over the line at 21. Westcliff were struggling to contain the speed, flow and passing abilities of our back line.
After 27 mins, Westcliff did manage to break through and score, subsequently converting to bring the score to 15-7. Brentwood quickly regrouped and Henry Batty went over the line a few minutes later, with Owen Swann adding to our tally just before the whistle for half time, and bringing the score to 25-7.
Within 10 mins of the restart, Tom Walker was over the line, and the try was converted. Score 32-7. Further tries followed from Josh Turner, Henry Batty, Jack Mayes, Henry Morley, Sam White and Dan Pembroke.
Westcliff came back with two further tries and a conversion in the second to bring the final scoreline to 68-19.
A great game of Rugby to watch from both sides, played in good spirit.
Well done to all our Brentwood lads. You all played your part, even if you didn't get on the score sheet. You did us proud.
Into Round 2 we go.
