U17s win County Cup Final 16-12 vs Upminster RFC

The U17s were victorious in Sunday's U17 County Final defeating local rivals Upminster 16-12 in a fiercely contested game at Southend RFC.

Having earlier watched the U16s perform so well in their fantastic win against Westcliff, the boys were clearly inspired by that performance and started strongly, moving into a 13-0 lead at half time through a brace of tries from Ed Greenfield and a penalty from Tommy Watson.

The 2nd half saw a strong riposte from Upminster, who were never going to go down without a fight, but the boys refused to buckle and based on a dominant performance from the pack held on to secure a well deserved 16-12 victory.

A big thanks to all those who came to support both the U16s and U17s, on what was a great day for the club. All the players and coaches really appreciated the support from parents, senior players and committee members alike who had made the trip down to Southend to support.
