Brentwood U13s joint win Essex Cup

last Sunday saw Brentwood U13s take on Romford in a 25-25 thriller in the Essex cup final at Thurrock RFC
we kicked off with Brentwood up the slope and against the wind in the first half knowing Romford would start strong. We knew their number 8 and 12 are their danger men and score a huge amount of their tries. This proved to be correct and their play came through them. Our forwards were outstanding along with our backs and every player tackled their hearts out, however minuets before halftime half time we were 25-5 behind. Then a lovely try saw the score 25-10 and we knew we had a great chance to catch them.

The second half we were down a slight slope and with the wind which saw us take advantage of the conditions and put huge pressure on our opponents by scoring 3 tries to make it 25-25. with 6 minuets left we seemed to be in the ascendance and had them pinned in their own 22.
unfortunately a player had a heavy full and the game was held up. The ref had to blow the game early and thankfully the lad seemed ok. The game was called and the result ended 25-25.
After a discussion, the RFU were so impressed with both sides and the way the game was played they made the correct decision and the two teams shared the cup.
looking over the course of the season this was the right result and I don't think ether side deserved to lose this game. I want to congratulate the two teams for the manor and sportsmanship they displayed. I Think this is a lesson from the kids that maybe parents all over the county can start to learn from. It is the kids that are actually out on the fields playing the game taking the knocks that seem to display the greatest sportsmanship an example to us all.
well done every single player in both squads/all players that played and especially players that unfortunately missed out.
