Wanstead Round Robin / festival
U12s enjoy the rugby
Sunday 8/10 saw U12s go to Wanstead and play a round robin of 4 games.
Our first game was against our hosts and friends Wanstead. After a tough few minutes against a big strong Wanstead side we found the pass to put our winger Alex Freeman in space, he made it 1-0 to us.
Wanstead wasn't about to lay down as they showed us with powerful rucking which left us short with a two on one out wide.
They skipped through to score and make it 1-1 at half time.
The second half saw us playing down hill and with a low sun behind us, we scored thanks to a powerful break through from Conor Liddell to make it 2-1 to Brentwood. We added tries from out wide towards the end of the game to end up 4-1 winners
( it was a lot closer than the score line suggests) Wanstead put up very strong opposition. We play each other again shortly, we have no doubt it will be a very tough game.
Hackney Bulls came next, as we got into our stride we started to pass the ball much better. Our scrum half Louie was finding Tom and he was passing the ball out well. Dan S, Ashton , James and Dan W were making good ground with Conor, Alex, johnny , and Tom all scoring tries.
Brentwood finished on top of a very good side.
Cheshunt were next up and played some good passing rugby but our big lads never let them settle. Great tackling from Tabani, (new lad) Lucas, Jack , Dan M which enabled Tom to score a few with some good solo runs also Mason added a few and was a constant threat in all our games working well on the wing with some lovely powerful runs.
We played really well, not conceding any tries.
Our last game we come out on top of a very good and impressive Enfield side we have never played before. Great team effort from Metin, Jacob , Alfie always tackling and putting in team performances that make the difference
Great team effort from all
Also not forgetting our Scrum half Dobbie who had only returned from a shoulder injury to twist his ankle. He's find now and itiching to return.
