After the torrential weather midweek we were all pleased to waken to the sunshine on Sunday morning, there will be plenty of time for freezing cold rain and wind later in the year so we were happy to enjoy the sunshine whist we could.
Half of Doddinghurst Road got swallowed up by a sink hole yesterday which has caused traffic chaos in Brentwood which lead to a few latecomers (myself included) but Mark & Tom were there to kick things off starting as always with names & hellos, it’s really important all the kids feel part of the team and simple things like knowing each other’s names go a long way toward that. After kitting up with our belts and tags we formed up for a game of Bulldog. All the new kids coming along is great fun, but its making the latter stages of Bulldog a real challenge but great fun and the kids love it!
Then we moved on to one to one passing drills, concentrating on the correct passing techniques and movement as we moved around the training square with some real improvement being seen in the session, less netball and more rugby! We then moved on to match practice, trying to take what we learnt from passing practice into a game situation…it mostly worked…sort of….ish.
We finished with some kicking off the tees, just for fun.
Great to see a few more kids and parents in the clubhouse for hot-dogs this week, if you've not tried it before I'd encourage you to do so, it’s a great way for the kids to hang out together after training and have some fun, real team building stuff! See you all next week!
