Brentwood travelled to Ealing on the back of a record 134 point haul the previous week to take on an Old Priorians side who were on a fine run of form, winning seven of their last eight games and sitting in sixth place in the league. The hosts started brightly and took an early lead but had no answer to Brentwood’s power and pace as the visitors hit their stride.

It started badly for Brentwood conceding a converted try in only the 4th minute. That was to be the only time Old Priorians got anywhere near to scoring again throughout the whole match. Brentwood were dominant in every area and only handling errors and picking the wrong option at times kept them to 2 Burr penalties. Paul Bradley got it right on 25 minutes and finished off a powerful 5 metre scrum, Burr converted to put Brentwood ahead 7 – 13. Looking to move the ball at every opportunity Brentwood got close on a few occasions but good scramble defence from the hosts kept them out.

The second half saw Brentwood continue their dominance in the scrum and lineout, from the first lineout of the second half Jack Richards broke free and sidestepped the covering player to score a lovely try which Burr duly converted. Brentwood had now stretched their lead and went looking for further tries, Tidje Visser, Ben Amato and Joel Bevan-Royston all making good ground in the loose and winning a number of scrums against the head. Brentwood piled on the pressure in one scrum on the hosts 5 metre line and were rewarded with a penalty try and the replacement prop being shown a yellow card. Playing the conditions well Brentwood went further ahead when Burr released Josh Stannard who beat two players to score the bonus point try. Just time for another penalty try after more good work from the forwards and take the score to 7 -41. The score could, and maybe should have been higher as Brentwood were stronger and technically better across the pitch and a bonus point away from home is a fantastic result considering the opposition.

Another strong all round performance, the forwards again put the team in good positions with fast ball for the backs to use. Strong tackling, especially in one 5 minute period when the hosts finally put some phases together but made no ground, kept the opposition quiet. A good team performance which put Brentwood top of the league by right as Chingford failed to gain a bonus point in their narrow home win against Fullerians.

The Davlav Man of the Match went to Ben Amato, a captains performance in every sense of the word. Strong and powerful in defence and attack, always available for the ball and a dominant personality on the field.
