A superb squad performance saw our 2nd XV run out convincing winners against a strong Rochford RFC XV.
Played in the palatial surroundings of Harlow RFC, our boys bossed the game for the vast majority of the 80 minutes - Rochford struggling to cope with our powerful forward play and superb backs.
That said it wasn't all one-way traffic, with Rochford catching us unawares to open their account towards the end of the first half, and then enjoying their best spell of possession and territory in the last 15-20 mins.
In the end, the tense finale was eased somewhat by 2 late Brentwood penalties to extend the lead to 39-20
A great squad performance and just reward for the excellent and vocal travelling support.
With the 3's already winning their league title, the 2s retaining the Essex Cup, and looking to secure second spot in the league, and the 1st XV's league destiny still in their hands, these are exciting times for senior rugby at Brentwood RFC, made even more heartening by the number of senior players who have, and continue to graduate from our Mini and Youth ranks!
