The 2nd XV led by Jed Roman opened their merit table campaign with a 27-17 win against Thurrock in Division 1 of the Essex County merit table. Two tries apiece for Matt Robinson and Will Vye with conversions and a penalty from Henry Watson saw the young Brentwood side take on a Thurrock side in a local derby game.
The game was marred by the injury to Brentwood player Chris Suker.
Skipper Roman said ‘it was great to open our league campaign with a win against local rivals Thurrock. It will take time to galvanise the players as a team but the signs are really positive.’
3rd XV match against Epping Upper Clapton was conceded by Epping Upper Clapton as they were unable to field a team.
