Brentwood were pleased to host the RFU this morning who were delivering a presentation to the parents of all Mini’s age groups on their “Kids First” principles. The length of the presentation meant an early start and a longer session than normal so pliantly of time for fun and games and lots of mud!
MORE new faces this morning which was fantastic to see, and after names and hellos we moved into our longer than usual 2hr(!) session! We started as we always seem to with a game of Bulldog which apart from lots of fun, is a good warm up, gets the adrenalin flowing as well as working on ball handling, evasion & tacking. From there we played a few rounds of “Eggs In The Basket” which is always chaotic fun, especially when they kids are running backwards! With all the extra time we thought we’d do some kicking practice just fun and it was very impressive, there’s going to be a lot of competition for fly half when this lot get older! After drinks break we moved on to some Cat & Mouse for speed, agility & tackling practice before one more Bulldog and wrapping up for the morning.
We’re encouraging the kids to form a player’s tunnel when leaving the field after training, it’s an important part of the game and we’d like to be good at it as we stat to play fixtures this season.
Yours in rugby
