On a bright but cold Sunday at home, Brentwood U18's faced strong opposition from Bishops Stortford RFC in round three of the National Colts Cup. In front of a very large crowd of enthusiastic home support the team started very quickly scoring four unanswered tries in the first half to lead 24-0 at half time. A cheeky chip/catch and run to the line from Chay Pollinger set the ball rolling followed by two well worked tries from the forwards one scored by Dan Hirst after a smart pass from Josh Webb and the other scored by Webb after a great lineout catch and drive. Josh Stannard burst through to complete the try scoring, two conversions from Pollinger rounded off a satisfying opening 35 minutes.Henry Dunleavy took advantage of space at the edges of the breakdown to sneak over for the first try of the second half then Sam Cappaert finished a lovely move and converted his own try. Bishops Stortford never gave up and were rewarded with two late tries before Alex Wilson scored the final try of the game, leaving Brentwood progressing to the next round in January. The game was played in an excellent spirit and boys were a credit to their respective clubs.
The whole team appreciated the support from the very vocal home fans !
